Twice divorced (more about that later) 46 year old veterinary technician/jack of all trades mother of three and a “Gigi” to a wonderful grand daughter. I have a 20 year old daughter who will be finishing up nursing school in December, a 19 year old step-daughter, a 16 year old son who is a junior in high school and is in his third year of JROTC.

We reside in a small town just outside of San Antonio with our 5 dogs, 2 cats, a Quaker parrot and ferret. I have always had a love for animals and wanted to become a veterinarian some day. Never made it that far but I was still able to work with animals.

I was born in Houston. We were a middle class family. I have a brother who is six and a half years older than I. My dad was in the home building market, and in the early 80’s, the housing market went belly up. It was then that my family made the decision to relocate to San Antonio, where both sets of grandparents lived and finding successful employment. We moved in with my grandmother (maternal side). She was a widow. (My grandfather had some health issues and passed away on our annual Christmas ski trip to Ruidoso, New Mexico when I was 10 years old.)

I was thirteen at the time and just started my second year of junior high. I had been with all these kids since I had started elementary school, so this move was a bit stressful for me to say the least.

We found a home and moved in between my seventh and eighth grade year of junior high. Of course the home was not in the same area as the school I attended for seventh grade. So I started all over again in a new school and new friends in my eight grade year.

As earlier mentioned, because of my love of animals, I was able to get my first job as a kennel assistant for this very small animal hospital not far from my home.

I did remain in the same high school all four years and was in the work program, where I got my second job that was in a different animal hospital. This hospital was an active participant in the work program of the high school that I attended. After graduation, I continued with my current job and attended The University of Texas at San Antonio.

As my life progressed it didn’t exactly go as I planned. But who’s really does? I married a man I thought I would love forever, had two loving parents I thought would be around to watch their grandchildren grown up, but this did is not what God intended for me. Having said that, I believe that everyone has a predetermined life and a path that they are supposed to travel and all of our choices and decisions guide us in this direction. This path might be steep, rocky and a rough terrain. Of course, everyone can alter their direction by making different choices at different times through out our lives but ultimately you find your way back to the path as all of our choices make us who we are.
